I am what you call a bona fide kook. I used to surf. Yep, used to. Until health and careers and other things separated me from the sea and its waves. Excuses all, because I guess if I really wanted to, I could pull the longboard from out of the rafters, throw on an old wetsuit, and paddle out at Caspar Cove. Anyway.
Surf photography is a mild obsession. I consider myself to be a postcard-style documentarian. And I have a photojournalist way of thinking. I shoot whatever I find interesting; from landscapes to architecture and autos, to trains and skateboarding, and sometimes portraiture. Come fall and winter, I’m all about chasing swells and collaborating with locals in order to document good surf and hot sessions.
I guess I’ve put in the work and shown my dedication to this obsession, because I was invited to come hang out at the 2024 Kelp Classic… which, before this, I’d only heard rumors about. Homegrown. BBQ, beers and heats. This year it turned out to be in quality conditions at my favorite little patch of rivermouth sand.
